Belgian figure skater Luna Hendrix spoke about doping scandals in Russian figure skating. His words were quoted humor.

“The three Russian women on the podium had the same coach and one of them was caught for doping. I’ve always wondered how a 14-year-old could have such jumping ability, but I always gave it the benefit of the doubt. When I heard that the test was positive, I didn’t believe it at first.

I thought these girls were trained this way from a young age, but apparently sometimes other things come into play. But I’m not saying there aren’t clean ones out there,” Hendricks said.

On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) found Valieva guilty of doping and disqualified the athlete. He will not be able to compete in tournaments until December 2025. In addition, the state cannot train at ice rinks.

On February 7, CAS issued a rationale for Valieva’s case. In addition to the banned trimetazidine, three permitted substances were found in the skater’s blood. These are ecdysterone, hypoxene and L-carnitine. According to the CAS document, the Russian woman took nearly 60 medications and supplements between 2020-2021.

The Russian athlete was stripped of his gold medal at the 2022 European Championships and the Beijing Olympic Games, as well as the title of Russian champion.

Formerly Hendrix I am pleased Absence of Russians in tournaments.
