Elche announced the renewal of midfielder John Chetauya until the 2027-28 season. The player from Murcia, whose contract expires in 2025, came to the Elche club to play in the reserve team in 2020 and made his debut with the team in the First League in the same year. His consolidation in the first team took place last year, but a fibula injury prevented his continuity. The 23-year-old has made rapid growth since the arrival of Sebastián Beccacece, who has preferred the player as a defensive midfielder in recent months. Speaking to the club media after his continuity was made official, he said: “Elche Club de Fútbol, my team and my family. Where I want to be. Because the best is yet to come.” John’s renewal is the club’s second move for next season, following the announcement days earlier that the rights of Argentine midfielder Nico Castro had been acquired from Genk.
