Dutch justice authorities are working on the extradition of Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes. In this respect reported De Telegraaf journalist John van den Heuvel.
“I know that Dutch justice officials are working behind the scenes to ensure his extradition. This is happening in complete silence because the last thing people want is to anger Dubai. This raises serious concerns.
Of course, there is the possibility of extradition if a person is suspected or convicted, but all this happens very slowly and sluggishly,” the publication says.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. On 16 February, the Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list. He also has a prison sentence of 1.5 years for stabbing.
On March 1, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that Promes was detained in Dubai due to an accident. Promes fled the scene of the accident, hoping no one would notice. Later, while the football player was going through passport control to fly from the UAE to Russia, he was detained by local law enforcement and placed under house arrest.
