Brazilian journalist Paulo Albuquerque reported on his page on the social network X that former Barcelona and Brazil national team defender Dani Alves committed suicide.

Alves was convicted on February 22, 2024, of raping a girl in the toilet of a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2023. The Regional Court of Barcelona sentenced the defendant to 4.5 years in prison, 5 years of supervised release and a fine of 150 thousand euros in favor of the victim.
Alves was detained in January 2023 after one of the women contacted the police with statements of violence.
