Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev reached the third round by beating British athlete Andy Murray in the Masters series tournament held in American Indian Wells.

The match, which lasted 1 hour and 47 minutes, ended in two sets with a score of 7:6 (7:3), 6:1. Rublev served nine times and converted two of five break points. Murray has five hits and four double faults.

In the next round, Rublev will face the winner of the match between Brandon Nakashima and Jiri Legechka.

The Russian tennis player is ranked fifth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings. A few days ago he was involved in a major scandal at the ATP-500 tournament in Dubai.

On March 1, the 26-year-old Russian was disqualified in the semifinal match against the representative of Kazakhstan, Alexander Bublik, with scores of 7:6 (7:4), 6:7 (5:7), 5:6.

Rublev doubted his ball went out of bounds and shouted at the line judge, calling him a “moron”. The referee did not understand anything, but another referee who understood Russian heard this insult and reported it to the match referee and translated it into English using profanity. The supervisory authority decided to immediately disqualify Rublev.

The tennis player became enraged and tried to convince his superior that he had not sworn and that the translation of the Russian-speaking referee was not entirely correct. However, the decision remained in effect. The ATP later returned the ranking points to Rublev and he won the prize money that was taken away from him due to the disqualification.

Previously was named the reason why women’s tennis is objectively inferior to men’s.
