The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will soon announce its decision regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Games to be held in Paris. This was reported by RIA News.
“This will be announced at the appropriate time,” the IOC press service told the agency.
The next meeting of the executive board of the organization will be held in Lausanne (Switzerland) from 19 to 21 March.
On March 6, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) published the rules for the participation of neutral athletes in the upcoming Paralympic Games. Russians will be able to compete at the Paralympic Games only as neutral athletes and in individual competitions. They will also miss the opening and closing ceremonies.
The IPC canceled the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC)’s membership in the organization before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August 2016. PKR was conditionally reassigned in March 2019.
Russian Paralympic athletes also could not participate in the Paralympic Games held in Beijing in 2022.
