Journalist Dmitry Guberniev responded to the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) not to allow Russian athletes to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games in Paris “Soviet sport”.

“Overall, I don’t think they’re going to get there. What kind of ceremonies can we talk about? This is of course discrimination, I can’t say anything else. So if you’re Russian, get out, that’s what they think,” Guberniev said.

The International Paralympic Committee has published the conditions for Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games with neutral status. They will not be able to use any national symbols and colors of their country’s flag, anthem and other emblems. Neutral athletes will not be able to attend the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympic Games and will not be able to serve in their country’s military or security forces.
