Russian figure skater Alena Kostornaya says recovery after shoulder surgery is going as planned TASS.
“The recovery is going well according to plan. They allowed me to walk without orthoses, so I went out on the ice. Everything else is going according to the deadlines, we are not pushing it,” said Kostornaya.
At the beginning of 2023, Kostornaya’s former coach Elena Buyanova announced that the skater was skating in pairs. Since autumn 2022, she has been skating with Georgy Kunitsa under the guidance of Sergei Roslyakov.
On August 13, Kunitsa and Kostornaya got married. In September, the couple performed together for the first time at the test skates of the Russian national team. They staged their first free program for the soundtrack of the Hunger Games movie.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. For this reason, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended athletes from both countries from competitions.
Previously Kostornaya returned to the ice after shoulder surgery.
