Lawyer Dmitry Romanenko believes that only granting Russian citizenship to Dutch Spartak football player Quincy Promes will save him from extradition to Interpol. His words are quoted “Match TV”.

“Once Interpol receives the request, it will amend its notification and contact Russia with a request for Promes’ extradition. Our relations with Interpol have not changed, cooperation continues. In this case, only Russian citizenship will save Promes, because we do not extradite our citizens even to Interpol. And unless he has this citizenship, he will remain in limbo even on Russian territory,” Romanenko said.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. On 16 February, the Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list.

On March 1, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that Promes was detained in Dubai due to an accident. Promes fled the scene of the accident, hoping no one would notice. Later, the football player was detained by local law enforcement while going through passport control to fly from the UAE to Russia. He spent a few days in Dubai but will return to Russia soon. On March 5, the football player’s girlfriend released a joint video from a nightclub, despite Promes being under house arrest.

Previously Promesa named very arrogant.
