In his statement to socialbites.ca, criminal lawyer Maxim Kalinov claimed that the traffic accident that caused Moscow Spartak striker Quincy Promes to be detained in the United Arab Emirates may have been staged in order not to remove the football player from the country. He has time to prepare for extradition to the Netherlands.
“I heard this view and discussed with my colleagues that the footballer’s alleged abandonment of the scene of the accident formed the basis for his detention for a period of time in the Emirates. The fact that the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office has not previously requested the extradition of Promes does not contradict the current facts, so my assumption is that the case is dirty. I assume that probably all of this could have been initiated, or even that the accident was intentional. And the information that he had left the scene of the accident somehow led to Promes being detained in the UAE. My personal opinion was that it was set up to prevent him from leaving on time with the team. Now they are looking for other ways to get extradition,” says the lawyer.
Quincy Promes will join Spartak from St. Petersburg for the RPL match against Zenit from Dubai on February 29. He could not fly to St. Petersburg. The Dutch striker was detained for leaving the scene of an accident during a training camp with the Red-Whites in the United Arab Emirates. The actor can now be extradited to the Netherlands, where he was sentenced to one and a half years in prison for the armed attack on his cousin and six months for organizing the smuggling of large quantities of cocaine.
Previously former Russian national team player interceded For Spartak regarding the quality of the pitch in the stadium.
