Former CSKA and USSR national football player Vladimir Ponomarev criticized Moscow Spartak and red-white striker Quincy Promes after the scandal in Dubai. He shared his opinion with him RIA News.

“This is a completely incomprehensible story. They say he had an accident. What a fool. There’s no point in driving around Dubai, I punished myself. And now the Netherlands has intervened in this matter, saying that yes, he is a wanted criminal here. Forgive me now. Idiot. And Spartak is stupid. How do they allow their players to move around the city and especially drive,” said the veteran actor.

The football player was detained by police at the airport while trying to fly from Dubai to Russia on February 29. He will be traveling with the team to St. Petersburg for the match against Zenit in the 19th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). He could not fly to St. Petersburg.

On March 1, Spartak released a statement announcing that the 32-year-old striker would not participate in the match against Zenit. The red and whites also promised to impose disciplinary punishment if the football player returns to Russia. On the same day, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that Promes was detained in the UAE for fleeing the scene of the accident.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. On 16 February, the Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list.
