Currently, Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes is not in the custody of UAE law enforcement agencies. This was reported by Sports24.
It was noted that it is too early to talk about the Dutchman’s return to Russia.
The football player was detained by police at the airport while trying to fly from Dubai to Russia on February 29. He will be traveling with the team to St. Petersburg for the match against Zenit in the 19th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). He could not fly to St. Petersburg.
On March 1, Spartak released a statement announcing that Promes would not take part in the match against Zenit. The club also promised to take disciplinary action against the player when he returns to Russia. On the same day, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that Promes was detained in the UAE for fleeing the scene of the accident.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. On 16 February, the Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list.
Guberniev has previously used obscene language insult Promesa.
