Spartak football player Quincy Promes was not released from the UAE due to the objection of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. This was reported by Telegram channel MASH.
According to the source, the Dutch prosecutor’s office is requesting the extradition of Promes from the UAE. On February 29, UAE security forces did not allow the football player to fly from the training camp with Spartak to Russia – demanding additional documents from the Netherlands to resolve the extradition issue.
It was also announced that Promes had a chance to return to Russia if the Dutch did not provide the necessary documents within 48 hours.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. On 16 February, the Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list.
On February 22, RBC reported that Promes was ready to testify in person in the Amsterdam court, provided that he was not arrested.
