Russia’s first player, Daniil Medvedev, reached the semi-finals of the ATP 500 tennis tournament held in Dubai.

In the quarter-final match of the final, the Russian defeated Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. The match, which lasted 1 hour and 18 minutes, ended with scores of 6:2 and 6:3.

Medvedev will compete with the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz and French Hugo Humbert to reach the final.

On February 29, another Russian, Andrey Rublev, played his quarter-final match. He turned out to be stronger than Sebastian Korda. In the second set of the match, the American player refused to continue the fight. In the semi-finals, Rublev will face Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan.

The prize money for the tournament in the UAE exceeds $2.9 million. The competition will end on March 2. The current champion is Medvedev, who beat Rublev in the final.

Russian tennis players compete as neutral athletes in international tournaments. By the decision of Great Britain, they missed the Wimbledon tournament, the only Grand Slam tournament in 2022.

Previously named Medvedev’s main rival in the fight for world number one.
