Ovechkin talks about his NHL record 1,400 games 17:11

Washington Capitals’ Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin said he reached 1,400 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). His words are quoted washington post.

“Obviously it’s a pretty big number, there’s a lot of matchups. I’m just happy to have these meetings as part of a club. This is good. Thanks to my mother and father, they gave me good health. I was lucky enough to avoid serious injuries,” Ovechkin said.

In a game against Florida on February 25, Ovechkin played his 1,400th NHL game. He became the first Russian to play so many matches in the league. Alexey Kovalev ranks second in the NHL in number of games (1316). In total, 41 NHL players have achieved this goal.

Ovechkin has been playing for the Washington Capitals since 2005. In 2018, he and his club won the Stanley Cup.

This season, 38-year-old Ovechkin played in 55 matches and scored 16 goals and made 27 assists in these matches. The Russian continues to chase after Wayne Gretzky in the race to find the best snipers in league history. The legendary Canadian scored 894 goals during his career. Ovechkin now has 838 goals, the difference is 56 goals.
