Former Ural head coach Alexander Tarkhanov shared his views on Russian specialist Leonid Slutsky’s work in China, where he coaches Shanghai Shenhua. His words are quoted by Vprognoze.ru.

Probably the conditions will be such that it will help him to form a fighting team. He won the Chinese Super Cup, that is a plus for him. On February 25, the Russian specialist team won the Chinese Super Cup, beating Shanghai Port (1-0). For Slutsky, this cup was his first as the head coach of the Chinese team.
Slutsky took charge of Shanghai Shenhua in December 2023. Before China, Slutsky’s last place of work was Rubin Kazan. Under his leadership, the team took the penultimate place in the Russian Premier League (RPL) in the 2021/22 season and was relegated to the First League.
Slutsky is also known for his work at CSKA Moscow. He led the team to the RPL title three times, won the domestic Cup and the Super Cup twice.
Slutsky led the Russian national team from 2015 to 2016. Under his leadership, the national team finished fourth in its group at the 2016 European Championship, after which he left his post.
