After her defeat in the final of the WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai (UAE), Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya gave an ironic response on social networks to her compatriot Andrei Rublev, who advised her to enjoy the final match.
“I enjoyed it until the score was 5:3, give me more options next time Andrey,” the tennis player wrote.
Kalinskaya lost to Italian representative Yasmina Paolini with sets of 6:4, 5:7, 5:7. For the Russian athlete, this WTA final was the first in her career.
On the way to the final, the Russian woman defeated American Cori Gauff, who is among the top 3 in the world rankings, and Iga Swiatek, the world’s first racket.
In the updated rankings of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Kalinskaya ranks 40th with 1323 points. Polish representative Iga Swiatek continues to lead (10,300 points). In second place is Belarusian representative Arina Sabalenko (8905 points), who is the champion at the Australian Open. Cori Gauff from the USA (7100 points) completed the top three. The best of the Russians is Daria Kasatkina, in 13th place (3063 points).
