German expert Thomas Tuchel will leave his position as coach of Bayern Munich at the end of this season. This was reported by press service club.
Bayern made a statement confirming that the coach, whose contract runs until the summer of 2025, will leave his post on June 30, 2024. It was noted that the decision to leave Tuchel was the result of a friendly discussion between him and the club’s general manager Jan-Christian Driesen.
Tuchel has been in charge of Munich since March 2023. On February 18, 2024, Bayern lost to Bochum (2:3) in the German championship. This is the club’s third consecutive defeat. The team had previously lost to Bayer Leverkusen (0:3) in the Bundesliga and to Roman Lazio (0:1) in the 1/8 final in the Champions League.
With 12 weeks left before the end of the championship, Bayern is eight points behind the leader Bayer. Leverkusen club, which has not been defeated in all competitions since the beginning of the season, repeated Munich’s 32-game undefeated record streak. According to media reports, Tuchel is close to retirement.
