The New York Rangers achieved unprecedented success against the New York Islanders in a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season match.
Rangers became the first team to mount a three-goal comeback in an outdoor match. In the third period, the team lost with a score of 3:5, but managed to send the match to overtime, where the victory was brought by the club’s Russian forward Artemy Panarin. Final score 6:5 in favor of Rangers.
Panarin appeared on the ice in a total of 55 Rangers games in the 2023/24 season and recorded 74 points – 32 goals and 42 assists – in these games.
Panarin has been playing in the National Hockey League since 2015. He signed a seven-year contract with the Rangers in July 2019 that was supposed to net him $81.5 million. He also played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Thanks to the victory over the Islanders, the Rangers extended their NHL regular season winning streak to seven games. The team is in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with 75 points.
