Ovechkin calls Kucherov’s NHL season outstanding

Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin spoke highly of his compatriot Nikita Kucherov, who plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and expressed hope that he can win the National Hockey League (NHL) scoring race. His words guide the way “Sports Express”.

“Of course I want Nikita to win. He’s having an outstanding season. But we can’t ignore McDavid, who can score ten points in a game,” Ovechkin said.

The interview was conducted the night of Feb. 16 before Tampa’s game against the Colorado Avalanche. Before this match, Kucherov played in 53 matches, scored 34 goals and 56 assists and reached 90 points for the first time this season. And in the match against Colorado, the Russian hockey player scored three more goals – a pair of goals and an assist, thus helping Lightning win with a score of 6:3.

Kucherov finished fourth (30+82) in the NHL regular season last season, behind David Pastrnak (113 points), Leon Draisaitl (129 points) and Connor McDavid (153 points).
