New York Rangers’ Russian goaltender Igor Shesterkin was involved in a fight during a regular season match against the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

At the end of the first period, Chicago’s American hockey player Nick Foligno attacked Shesterkin in an attempt to push the puck into the goal. Thereupon, the Russian goalkeeper hit his opponent’s head area twice. His teammates stood up for Shesterkin, who pushed Foligno away from the goal.

The referees of the match intervened in the section and stopped the brawl. As a result, Shesterkin received a two-minute penalty for rudeness; Striker Will Kylie went into the penalty area instead. Foligno was also given a two-minute penalty for hitting him with a stick.
