Two-time Olympic champion in hockey Alexander Kozhevnikov said in an interview with socialbites.ca that he believes the Washington Capitals will make it to the Stanley Cup play-offs.

According to him, the capital has a chance to enter the eighth cup, even if it does not have a very successful performance in the first half of the regular season.

“Washington is not far from the play-off zone, they have not lost anything yet. But their team has a lot of problems; Evgeny Kuznetsov, a very quality center not only for the club but for the whole NHL, left. But they will collect their points and make it to the play-offs I think they will fight for it,” Kozhevnikov said.

On the night of February 8-9, Washington lost to the Florida Panthers. The meeting took place at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise and ended with a 4:2 win for Florida. The winners’ goals were scored by Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Rinehart, Ryan Lomberg and Eetu Luostarinen. Alexander Ovechkin and Anthony Mantha scored the guest team’s goals.
