Three-time Olympic figure skating champion Irina Rodnina spoke about the impact of the US presidential election on the return of Russian athletes to the international arena. His words were quoted Sports24.

“US Elections? This is a very important event for Americans. But for Russia and Russian sports this is not so important. Trump was already president. Have things changed in our sport? NO.

We don’t have to wait for any elections in the US to get us back to sports. None of this will happen if we don’t work properly and support our own business. “You should always rely only on yourself,” Rodnina said.

US presidential elections will be held in November 2024.

Russian and Belarusian athletes have been suspended from international competitions since March 2022 due to a special military operation on Ukrainian territory. Such a decision was taken in line with recommendations made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to exclude Russians and Belarusians from any international competitions.

In February 2024, the Russians will participate in Spartakiad. The competition will take place on the territory of the five constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Previously in Paris presented a set of medals for the upcoming Olympics.
