Former Spartak defenseman Nikita Shchitov called Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin a Washington Capitals patriot. His words are quoted legal betting.
“I think Ovechkin is a Washington patriot.” He is an iconic figure for this club and city. Why build a game around this for the sake of a record? I don’t think everything should revolve around one player.
There must be several leaders. It’s obvious that everyone on the Capitals plays for Ovechkin, but that’s too much of a coincidence. We must look for hockey players who will produce results and not just rely on Ovechkin,” said Shchitov.
The Russian forward played in a total of 45 games in the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL) this season and recorded 10 goals and 22 assists in these games.
Ovechkin continues to pursue Wayne Gretzky’s sniping record. The Russian has 832 goals. The legendary Canadian scored 894 goals in his NHL career; Ovechkin is now 62 goals behind him.
