Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on its official website published 129-page statement of reasons for Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, in which she specifies the name of the substance for which the athlete is disqualified in case of doping.

According to CAS, ecdysterone was detected in the figure skater’s blood. This substance has an anabolic effect and is approved by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) but is under the organization’s monitoring program in case of a possible ban.

On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified figure skater Kamila Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules due to the presence of a banned substance in her blood. The penalty period will be notified starting from December 2021.

This did not prevent the athlete from competing at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he won the gold medal in the team tournament. On January 30, the International Skating Union (ISU) reviewed the results of the competition and decided to take gold from the Russian team.

Previously Valieva explained CAS explained how the banned substance entered his body.
