Mostovoy: Dzhikia should not worry if he leaves Spartak

Former Russian national team player and Spanish Celta Alexander Mostovoy talked about the possibility of defender Georgy Dzhikia leaving Moscow Spartak and said that the football player should not worry about this because he can find a new team. His words are quoted by the publication ODDS.ru.

“If Dzhikia leaves Spartak he shouldn’t worry, he has a huge choice. Even if he is not in the plans of the Spartak technical staff, he is a good defender who can be useful to any team. Georgy is doing well because he can choose,” said Mostovoy.

Dzhikia has been playing for Spartak since 2017. With the club he won the championship and the Russian Cup. The defender has only played in six of a possible 17 matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season. His contract with his club expires in June 2024. On 5 February, Jikia’s manager Vadim Shpinev said that a new contract would not be signed if head coach Guillermo Abascal remained at the club.

Spartak, which collected 30 points after 18 rounds in the RPL, is in fifth place in the rankings. In the 18th round, Abascal’s team defeated Krylia Sovetov 3-0.
