Former Spartak midfielder Denis Boyarintsev admitted that he played on the same team with a drinking player. His words are quoted Sports24.
“Did I come across a football player drinking? Otherwise… There was someone, he played with me in the PFL. I loved gin and tonic. Training has just started and he is already drunk. He was on another team, I remember the guy went on a drinking binge during training camp. I missed classes, the coach gave me an ultimatum: “Either you reform, stop drinking alcohol, or leave the team.” Boyarintsev stated that the football player recovered himself and scored 32 goals in 30 matches.
Boyarintsev played for Spartak from 2005 to 2007 and in 2009. As part of the Muscovites, the midfielder won silver medals at the Russian Championship four times and reached the final of the National Cup.
Boyarintsev is also known in Russia for his performances in Rubin, Shinnik, Saturn, Tom and Torpedo.
He was a player of the Russian national team in 2004-2005.
After completing his professional football career, Boyarintsev became a coach. He worked in Tekstilshchik, Rodina and Novosibirsk. His last place of employment was Saratov Sokol, which he left in 2023.
