Spartak captain praised for not being harassed by the club

Former Dynamo Moscow player and football expert Alexey Petrushin said that he supports Spartak Moscow’s captain and defender Georgiy Dzhikia’s desire to stay in the team. His words guide the way “Euro-Football.Ru”.

“Jikia wants to stay and prove that he can and should play at this level. I support him in this regard because he does not run from club to club and does not get angry at the situation. He understands why he stopped being included in the squad. He was effective in his last matches, made serious mistakes and caused goals to be missed,” he said.

Dzhikia has been playing for Spartak since 2017. With the club he won the championship and the Russian Cup. The defender has only played in six of a possible 17 matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season. His contract with his club expires in June 2024. Dzhikia has been a member of the Russian national team since 2017. He played 44 matches with the national team jersey.

Spartak, which collected 30 points after 18 rounds in the RPL, is in fifth place in the rankings. In the 18th round, Guillermo Abascal’s team defeated Krylia Sovetov 3-0.
