Six-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Michael Jordan’s sneaker set sold for $8.032 million at Sotheby’s ESPN.
These are six pairs of Air Jordan sneakers, with which the American won the six final series of the National Basketball Association championship and is also considered the most valuable player of the NBA.
This is a record sale for a match-used shoe. Among the basketball player’s belongings, only the jersey from the first game of the 1998 finals series was more expensive, and this jersey was purchased for 10.1 million dollars.
Jordan, 60, retired in 2003 and went on to win six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls, as well as two Olympic Games (1984, 1992) with the U.S. national team.
Jordan is one of three athletes who have earned more than $1 billion, including LeBron James (basketball) and Tiger Woods (golf).
