Andrea Pinna, a lawyer whose firm represents the interests of figure skater Kamila Valieva, said that the reasoned decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the athlete’s case contains more than 130 pages. His words are quoted “Match TV”.

On February 3, Pinna confirmed that he represented Valieva at the CAS hearings in the fall. He said that after reviewing the reasoning, his legal team would decide on further steps, which could include appealing the decision in the Swiss Federal Court.

On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules due to the presence of a banned substance in her blood. The penalty period will be notified starting from December 2021.

This did not prevent the athlete from competing at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he won the gold medal in the team tournament. On January 30, the International Skating Union (ISU) reviewed the results of the competition and decided to take gold from the Russian team.

Valieva, among other things, lost the gold medals of the Russian Championship 2022 and the gold medal of the European Championship 2022, where a sample that gave a positive result for a banned drug was taken.
