Olympic champion ice dancing champion Tatyana Navka sent a message of support on her Telegram channel to Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, who was disqualified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for violating anti-doping rules. The post was quickly deleted. This was reported by “Championship.com”.
“Everything is before you, you are one of the few God has given and you have no right to give up. I wish you to overcome these obstacles, find strength, faith in your dream, the desire to go towards it, and most importantly, not to remain offended on this path, but to remain bright and kind. I am sure that an incredible, versatile and interesting life awaits you,” Navka wrote.
CAS’s decision to ban the athlete for four years, effective from December 2021, was announced on January 29.
As part of the Russian national team at the 2022 Olympic Games, Valieva took first place in the team tournament and fourth in the individual championship. After his disqualification, the International Skating Union (ISU) awarded the Russians third place, without depriving Russia of the overall medals. Gold went to the US team and silver went to the Japanese team.
Student Eteri Tutberidze lost the gold medal at the Russian Championships 2022 and the gold medal at the European Championships 2022, where, among other things, a sample was taken that gave a positive result for a banned drug.
Previously in the USA statedThat Russia shouldn’t have won an Olympic medal because of Valieva.
