Russian law firm BGP Litigation, which represented the interests of Russian skater Kamila Valieva in an anti-doping rule violation case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), had not previously worked in sports. This was reported by “Soviet sport”.

The publication states that the firm specializes in commercial protection and has no affiliation with sports law.

CAS’s decision to ban the athlete for four years, effective from December 2021, was announced on January 29.

As part of the Russian national team at the 2022 Olympic Games, Valieva took first place in the team tournament and fourth in the individual championship. After his disqualification, the International Skating Union (ISU) awarded the Russians third place, without depriving Russia of medals overall. Gold went to the US team and silver went to the Japanese team.

Student Eteri Tutberidze lost the gold medal at the Russian Championships 2022 and the gold medal at the European Championships 2022, where, among other things, a sample was taken that gave a positive result for a banned drug.

Previously choreographer Daniil Gleikhengauz statedHe said Tutberidze’s headquarters never used doping.
