Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev lost to Italian representative Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open final.
The match, which lasted 3 hours and 44 minutes, ended with scores of 3:6, 3:6, 6:4, 6:4, 6:3 in 5 sets. Medvedev won the first two sets but then lost three games.

Ranked third in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, Medvedev defeated Portugal’s Nuno Borges, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori and France’s Terence Atman on his way to the final. In the semi-finals, the Russian tennis player defeated German representative Alexander Zverev in five sets and lost 0-2 in the match. Sinner defeated world ranking leader Serbian Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.
Last season, Djokovic won the Australian Open by beating Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas.
