Criminal lawyer Maxim Kalinov described the actions of the police in the incident involving the beating of Mila Slepysheva, world and European judo champion among hearing-impaired athletes. In his statement to socialbites.ca, he expressed the opinion that they abused their official powers for the sake of personal interests.

“The police initially refused to file a case, but later filed two cases against an unidentified person based on available information. There is definitely an abuse of power here; Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, imprisonment for up to four years,” Kalinov said.

The lawyer expressed doubt that charges could be filed against the police officers. According to Kalinov, it is often necessary to file lawsuits against police officers due to the lack of adequate measures to respond to crimes committed by law enforcement officers in the regions.

“In my opinion, this is definitely an abuse, because the operations staff have probably already identified this person and his data is available. There was information that he worked in law enforcement, intelligence services, and therefore no case was opened. Of course, you can distort all this and bring the police to justice. But sometimes in the regions “Adequate measures are not taken against police torture or similar cases. I personally got the impression that this is happening, using the example of police torture of Tyumen residents Mikhail Gubin and Deniz Aidyn,” Kalinov noted.

telegram channel Readovka posted video of the incident. It was reported that Slepysheva’s friend, who worked in the taxi, called her and asked for help due to insufficient passengers. According to the source, the athlete arrived on the scene and “tried to calm down the man who was brutally beating her; the man pulled her by the hair, blew her nose, forced her to be on her knees begging for forgiveness and “worked for the FSB.”

The source states that passersby also rushed to the women’s aid. Samara police carried out procedural checks but first refused to open a criminal case, then opened two cases against an unidentified person. At the same time, the man’s face is also seen in the recording broadcast by the channel.

It was noted that the incident took place in October, the man was still on the run, and there was no one to look after Slepysheva because her brother who could help her was in the Northern Military Region.

Previously Kalinov saidThis could threaten the man who beat Slepyshev.
