President of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin on social networks reportedHe said Russian divers will not participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
“This is a final and irreversible decision. Our divers cannot participate in the Olympics in neutral status. The International Olympic Committee and the International Federation of Aquatics World Aquatics have set discriminatory conditions that contradict the sports principles of the Olympic movement,” Druzhinin wrote.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
The IOC said Russian athletes will be required to sign updated conditions of participation, which include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”. Russian athletes who rank well in their disciplines will be allowed to compete.
