Former world number two among juniors Anastasia Pivovarova, in her interview with socialbites.ca, shared her expectations from the match between Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open final.

“The favorite will of course be Sinner. His level of tennis is higher than Daniil in this Australian Open. But Medvedev is psychologically stronger. If he can consistently draw Yannick into long rallies, he will gain an advantage.

This is Yannick’s first final and his hands will definitely shake at some moments and Medvedev is the type of player who can destroy his opponent. Let’s hope Daniil can unsettle Sinner like he did with Alexander Zverev. Then the Italian will start to get angry and his confidence in his game will decrease.

We wish Medvedev a speedy recovery after his semi-final match against Zverev. I hope Daniil’s team will now do everything to bring him to his senses and make him ready for the final,” said Pivovarova.

The final between Medvedev and Sinner will be played on Sunday, January 28, at 11.30 Moscow time.

Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev in the semifinals with scores of 5:7 and 3:6. 7:6 (7:4), 7:6 (7:5), 6:3.

Sinner came out stronger than Novak Djokovic – 6:1, 6:2, 6:7 (6:8), 6:3.

previously named “great advantage” Sinner in front of Medvedev in the Australian Open final.
