In her conversation with socialbites.ca, former world number two among juniors Anastasia Pivovarova explained why Jannik Sinner is in an advantageous position before his match against Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final.

“We knew even before the match that Sinner would have a big advantage in terms of physical conditioning because he spent 14 hours on the court and Medvedev spent almost 21 hours. The Italian remained fresh and lost only one set throughout the tournament,” Pivovarova said.

The former second racquet of the world also drew attention to the strengths of the Italian tennis player.

“Yannick is playing very well: he finished last season superbly, reached a completely new level for himself and continues to do the same in Australia. From the very beginning of the tournament, I called him the favorite and believed that he was the number one contender to win the Australian Open.

The Sinner is very confident because he defeated strong opponents and walked around the castle very calmly. He has fast strokes and hits very accurately.

For example, he showed an amazing level of tennis in his quarter-final match against Andrey Rublev. But what was very pleasing was that Andrei was on the same level as Yannick and was a little short of success: he could have won two sets,” said Pivovarova.

The final between Medvedev and Sinner will be played on Sunday, January 28, at 11.30 Moscow time.

Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev in the semifinals with scores of 5:7 and 3:6. 7:6 (7:4), 7:6 (7:5), 6:3.

Sinner came out stronger than Novak Djokovic – 6:1, 6:2, 6:7 (6:8), 6:3.

existed before the trick was revealed Zverev will face Medvedev at the Australian Open.
