Olympic diving medalist Alexander Bondar has a positive attitude only towards competitions in Russia. His words are quoted “Soviet sport”.
“Personally, I am not sad that we cannot perform on the world stage. Of course, it is a pity for the young generation who have to be sent to international competitions to represent our country. “We have traveled this way and seen the world, we performed well, it is time to prove ourselves on Russian soil,” said Bondar.
In 2020, Bondar won a bronze medal in the 10 meters in the platform discipline with Viktor Minibaev at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
He also has two silver and two bronze medals in the World Championship and five gold medals in the European Championship.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
