Bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games, former third racket in the world, founder of the children’s tennis school, Nadezhda Petrova, in an interview with socialbites.ca, explained why Carlos Alcaraz will pose more difficulties to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. He did better than Alexander Zverev could at the Australian Open.
“Alcaraz leads Medvedev 3-2 in head-to-head matches and would honestly be a tougher opponent than Zverev. The Spaniard would play up front, trying to get into the field and outperform Medvedev in terms of speed and power.
Daniil will have to exert a lot of physical effort, because in this case it is necessary to cover a very large area of the field. You need to play your best tennis from the beginning to the end of the match. At some point there will be no possibility of psychological and physical collapse: we must constantly play to the maximum of our abilities, fight Alcaraz,” said Petrova.
Zverev beat Alcaraz in the quarter-finals with scores of 6:1, 6:3, 6:7 (2:7), 6:4.
The Spanish tennis player is the second racket in the world and the winner of two Grand Slam tournaments (US Open – 2022 and Wimbledon 2023).
Zverev is ranked sixth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings and has never won a Grand Slam tournament.
Previously Zvereva called a suitable rival Medvedev is in the semifinals of the Australian Open.
