Nikolai Naumov, former head of Lokomotiv Moscow, praised railway workers for the large number of Russians on their staff. His words are quoted legal betting.
“I think Lokomotiv is right to follow the policy of having almost exclusively Russians in its squad, especially in an environment completely isolated from European and world football. There is no point in bringing foreign players in groups like Zenit did anymore. This is a pointless waste of money for which we have little left in football.
Lokomotiv is of course the most Russian team in Moscow. The club has moved towards this throughout its history,” said Nikolai Naumov.
Currently, Lokomotiv has 24 players with Russian passports. Only three foreign players took part in 18 matches of the Russian championship.
Lokomotiv, which has been playing for 18 weeks in the Russian Premier League (RPL), is in fourth place in the rankings with 31 points. Krasnodar entered the winter break as the leader with 38 points. Zenit is in second place with two points missing. Dinamo (32 points) completed the top three.
