Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Vice President Alexey Selivanenko stated that Russian Andrey Rublev had a good match against Italian Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open quarter-finals and said that this defeat was the 10th defeat of Russian tennis. Rublev lost his tenth Grand Slam quarter-final in ten matches and his third at the Australian Open. Additionally, the 26-year-old Russian lost twice in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, once at Wimbledon and four times at the US Open.

Rublev is ranked fifth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings and Sinner is ranked fourth.

Russian tennis players continue to participate in international tournaments as neutral athletes. The only tournament they missed was Wimbledon in 2022. Sanctions were imposed because the organizers did not allow Russian tennis players to participate in the tournament.
