Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya defeated US representative Sloane Stephens in the Australian Open 3rd round match.

The match, which lasted 2 hours and 46 minutes, ended with scores of 6:7, 6:1, 6:4.

Kalinskaya completed five aces, made a double and 15 unforced errors, and converted four of 14 break points.

In the fourth round, Kalinskaya will play with the winner of Anna Blinkova (Russia) – Yasmine Paolini (Italy).

Ranked 75th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Kalinskaya played in the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career.

Russian tennis players continue to participate in international tournaments as neutral athletes. The only tournament they missed was Wimbledon in 2022. Sanctions were imposed because the organizers did not allow Russian tennis players to participate in the tournament.

The current winner of the Australian Open is Arina Sabalenko of Belarus, who beat Anna Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the final.
