Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas, the seventh racket in the world, shared his thoughts on how he could beat Serbian Novak Djokovic, the leader of the world rankings, after defeating Australian representative Jordan Thompson in the second round of the Australian Open. His words are quoted “Championship.com”.
“Djokovic won here 12 times. He is a very selfish person. I think he needs to wake up one day and be less selfish. Sharing means caring about the atmosphere on the tour. There are two scenarios. Someone has to beat Novak, but not me. Or it should be me. We will find a way,” Tsitsipas said.
Djokovic is the top seed at the Australian Open in Melbourne and has already reached the third round of the tournament. In his second round match, he defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin in four sets: 6:3, 4:6, 7:6(4), 6:3. In the third round, the Serbian player will fight against Argentinian Thomas Martin Etcheverry, ranked 30th, who did not give up a single set to experienced players Andy Murray and Gael Monfils in the first two matches.
Serbian tennis player is the current champion of the Australian Open. He beat Tsitsipas in the final last year.
