Spain’s former world number one Aranta Sanchez Vicario was given a two-year suspended prison sentence for fraud Reuters Referring to the Barcelona court.

Sanchez Vicario, her ex-husband Josep Santacana and three others were sentenced for hiding assets to avoid paying a 7.6 million euro debt to a bank in Luxembourg.

The tennis player did not admit his guilt, saying that her ex-husband managed her money and that she was unaware of the illegal activities. Santacana was sentenced to three years and three months in prison. The couple must pay compensation of 6.6 million euros to the bank.

Sanchez Vicario is a three-time winner of Roland Garros and the Australian Open. In 2002, the athlete announced his retirement. On July 14, 2007, he was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in New York along with Pete Sampras. In 2011-2012, the tennis player captained the Spanish national team in the Fed Cup.
