Russian open water swimmers and divers will not be able to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer. This has been reported TASS In the communications department of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics).

A representative of the international federation said that no Russian athletes are registered for the World Aquatics Championships to be held in Doha in February. This tournament was the last chance for athletes to qualify for the Games in Paris.

In autumn 2023, World Aquatics allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in competitions with neutral status. Currently, only swimmer Ivan Girev has the status of a neutral Russian athlete.

The IOC said Russian athletes will be required to sign updated conditions of participation, which include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”. Russian athletes who rank well in their disciplines will be allowed to compete.

The Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
