Russian forward and Washington Capitals’ captain Alexander Ovechkin did not take the ice in the National Hockey League’s (NHL) regular season match against the Anaheim Ducks.
Ovechkin missed his team’s last two NHL games due to a lower-body injury. The 38-year-old Russian player was not included in the match squad, although he trained before the home match with the Ducks. The striker misses the capital’s third consecutive match.
The Washington-Anaheim match started at 03.00 Moscow time. The score was not opened in the 15 minutes of the first period.
The Russian player played a total of 39 matches on the ice this season and recorded 8 goals and 19 assists. Ovechkin has 830 goals in his entire NHL career. He is behind Wayne Gretzky, who holds the league record for most goals in NHL history with 64 goals.
Ovechkin is a Dynamo Moscow graduate. He played for the club from 2001 to 2005. He also played for the blue-whites in the 2012/13 season.
