Toronto calls the lost game the best for the Russian goalkeeper

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe praised the team’s Russian goaltender Ilya Samsonov, citing his performance (2:4) in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game loss against the Detroit Red Wings. His words guide the way official site Leagues.

“I think it was his best game of the season in terms of the way he handled the puck, so I think it was a positive step for him,” Keefe said.

In early January, the Maple Leafs waived Samsonov. At that time, the hockey player played 15 matches, in which he won seven victories. He conceded an average of 3.94 goals per match and his save percentage was 86.2%.

Samsonov was sent to the American Hockey League (AHL) and then called back to Toronto – his game with Detroit was his first game after returning to the Maple Leafs. In total, Samsonov played 16 matches in the current NHL regular championship, where he made an average of 86.2% of shots with a safety factor of 3.88.
