Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina turned to Alena Ostapenko from Latvia after her defeat in the final of the WTA-500 tournament in Adelaide (Australia). His words are quoted on social networks by journalist Shimon Przybisz.
“We may have had a tense relationship before, but I’m happy that now we can share the field and everything happens in a calm atmosphere. It’s cool.
Many people think that we are friends, but this is absolutely not true. The tense atmosphere between us is not only related to the situation at the US Open 2017. There were definitely other events that separated us,” said the Russian woman.
The match, which lasted 1 hour and 16 minutes, ended with scores of 6:3 and 6:2.
For 26-year-old Ostapenko, this was the seventh title in her career at the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) level, considering her victory at the French Open (Roland Garros). During the competition in Adelaide, Ostapenko managed to defeat Romanian representative Sorana Cirstia, French Caroline Garcia, Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova.
