Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery spoke about the injury suffered by the team’s Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin. His words are quoted Hockey News.

“He had a bit of an injury after Sunday’s game, so it’s a good day to give him time to recover. Hopefully he will be ready for training tomorrow,” Carbery said.

Ovechkin missed two Washington practices. In the match against the Los Angeles Kings on January 7, the Russian player made an assist. For the forward, it was his sixth consecutive goal-scoring in the last five games in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Russian player played a total of 38 matches on the ice this season and recorded 8 goals and 18 assists.

In total, Ovechkin scored 830 goals during his time in the NHL. He is behind Wayne Gretzky, who holds the league record for most goals in NHL history with 64 goals.

On January 12, Washington will play against Seattle.
