“My heart tells me that my successor is Alina Kabaeva, but she is not ready yet. On the other hand, I have many such daughters: Yulia Barsukova and Sasha Soldatova. I have many students like me who know a lot and understand everything. And at any moment I am ready to convey it to them, raise it, define it and work together,” said Wiener.
On October 16, the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF) Court of Appeal held a hearing on Wiener’s appeal against the decision to ban her from tournaments under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). In March 2022, the Disciplinary Commission (GEF) suspended Wiener from tournaments under its auspices for two years.
In July 2023, the FIG board decided to accept representatives from Russia and Belarus, provided that they comply with certain yet unpublished rules.
